Serving our neighbors is one of the ways we put our faith into practice—meeting practical needs, offering encouragement, praying with people, and reminding our community that they are not forgotten.
Serving Our Community
Our mission work is not limited to places far from Jacksonville. We believe the people around us are our neighbors, and Christian service means being willing to step into real situations where people need help, hope, compassion, or simply someone who will take the time to care.
Over the years, our congregation has served Jacksonville in a variety of ways. We have fed people experiencing homelessness, distributed clothing, held community health events, helped with home projects, supported a crisis pregnancy center, shared Christian literature and prayed with people at the flea market, and visited elderly residents in nursing homes.
These efforts may look different from one another, but they share the same purpose: to let the love of Christ become visible through practical service and personal attention.
Local Outreach
Our Jacksonville outreach takes many forms because people have many different needs. Sometimes service means a meal. Sometimes it means clothing, a helping hand at someone's home, a health resource, a prayer, or a visit to someone who may otherwise feel forgotten.
We have prepared and distributed food to people experiencing homelessness and others facing difficult circumstances. A meal can meet an immediate need while also creating an opportunity to treat someone with dignity and kindness.
We have distributed clothing to people experiencing homelessness and others who needed practical assistance. Providing something as basic as clean, useful clothing can be a meaningful expression of care.
Our congregation has participated in community health events designed to provide helpful information, encouragement, and practical resources to people in our area.
Sometimes ministry means getting our hands dirty. We have helped people with projects around their homes, putting practical assistance alongside the compassion and encouragement that people need.
We have supported a local crisis pregnancy center, helping strengthen a ministry that comes alongside women and families facing difficult and deeply personal circumstances.
At the flea market, we have distributed Christian literature, talked with people about faith, and offered to pray with them. Sometimes the most important thing we can give someone is time, a listening ear, and a prayer.
Meeting People Where They Are
Our flea-market outreach gives us an opportunity to meet people in an ordinary setting and talk with them about the things that matter most. We bring Christian literature and the love of Christ into every conversation.
We listen to people's stories, provide counsel and encouragement, answer questions, and offer prayer. We treat every person with respect, and take every opportunity to point someone toward Jesus.
Care for the Elderly
Visiting elderly people in nursing homes is another part of our local ministry. A visit may seem simple, but for someone who is isolated or unable to get out into the community, a friendly face and a few minutes of conversation can mean a great deal.
Community outreach is not something we want to do simply simply to check a box. We want to know people, hear their stories, recognize practical needs, and respond when we can. Christian service is most meaningful when it treats people as people, not projects.
Jesus taught His followers to love their neighbors. We believe that love should become visible in the way we serve. Sometimes that means a meal. Sometimes clothing. Sometimes a home repair, a health event, a prayer, a conversation, or a visit. The form changes. The calling does not.
Our Local Mission
Our congregation is small, but we believe a church does not have to be large to make a difference. Every act of service gives us another opportunity to reflect the character of Christ—to care for a neighbor, encourage someone who is hurting, and share the hope we have found in Him.
