Our Beliefs

We believe there is one faith. However, today we find that there are over 44,000 denominations and church groups that call themselves Christian. Sadly, a lot of Christians have gotten caught up in fighting with each other over non-essential teachings. They spend time bickering instead of spreading the good news of Jesus! We believe it is counter-productive to focus on areas of differences unless they are critical to the gospel message preached by Jesus Christ and His apostles. Much fighting and division has resulted from attempts to "over-engineer" theology. It seems modern Christianity has become obsessed in a futile effort to nail down every minute teaching of Scripture. The problem with this approach is that many of the minor points in the Bible are not agreed upon even by Biblical scholars, and there are equally valid but conflicting ways to interpret them. Fights develop when one side gives more weight to one set of Scriptures, while another side gives more weight to another set of Scriptures. As a result of these fights, schisms and division erupt and churches end up splintering. We feel it is best to avoid foolish controversies over the law and other non-essential issues (Titus 3:9; 2 Tim. 2:23). We believe there is liberty in Christ for members of His body to hold differing beliefs on non-essentials. Likewise, unfulfilled prophecy tends to be an area of endless strife and controversy, and we seek to avoid dogmatic interpretations of Bible prophecy. Below are the core beliefs we feel are essential for a Christ follower:

12 Essential Beliefs:

We believe it is important to keep the purity of the faith by teaching:

  • The Bible and the Bible alone as the rule of faith and practice
  • Salvation by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone
  • The Lordship of Christ requires the believer to learn servanthood, discipleship, and obedience to the gospel, including moral, ethical, just and righteous living, with the goal of growing to the stature of Christ
  • The soon return of Jesus after the tribulation to judge the earth in righteousness
  • Love as being the pre-eminent attribute of God, which teaching necessarily eliminates false doctrines such as eternal hell fire
  • Worship on the day the Lord blessed at creation, the day the first century church worshipped upon, and the day that will be worshipped upon in the Millennium: the seventh day Sabbath
  • Baptism by immersion in water
  • Marriage is between a man and a woman
  • The Lord's Supper service
  • The sanctity of human life, including the life of the unborn
  • Financially supporting the work of the Lord
  • Utilizing our spiritual gifts and talents in building the kingdom of God thru outreach and missions
